I have spent more than twenty years helping businesses run better. When I started freelancing, I expected things to be simpler. I found the opposite.
How LockMargin was born
Factories. Retail stores. Service companies. I have worked with accountants, managers, economists, and business owners. My job was always the same: find inefficiencies, simplify workflows, and build systems people can actually rely on.
When I started freelancing, I expected things to be simpler. Instead, I found most freelancers juggling spreadsheets, invoicing tools, and subscription software just to keep their business running.
Almost every solution followed the same model: your data lives on someone else's servers, and you keep paying every month to access it. That never felt right to me.
So I started researching how freelancers actually work. I studied existing tools, mapped common workflows, and spoke with professionals across different industries.
In December 2025, I began building LockMargin. The goal was not to create another invoicing app. The goal was to create a simple business operating system for independent professionals — one that works locally, respects ownership, and does not require a subscription.
Today, I use LockMargin every day to manage my own freelance work. My projects, invoices, and client data stay under my control.
How it is built
LockMargin is still an independent project. I write the code. I test the features. I answer the emails.
At the same time, I rely on modern tools, open-source technologies, and feedback from specialists in security, UX, and finance to keep improving the product.
No venture capital. No board meetings. No growth-at-all-costs decisions.
Just a practical tool built by someone who has spent a career improving business processes and believes freelancers deserve software they actually own.

Offline First
Your data lives on your machine. Period. No cloud sync, no remote servers, no "we will be right back" outages.
Privacy by Design
AES-256-GCM encryption. Argon2id key derivation. Even if someone steals your laptop, they cannot read your data without your password.
Fair Pricing
Pay once, own forever. $49 for Standard. No subscriptions, no hidden fees, no "price increase" emails.
This is not a side project. This is my livelihood.
I use LockMargin daily to invoice my own clients, track my own time, and manage my own cash flow. Every bug I fix is a bug that was blocking my work. Every feature I ship is a feature I needed yesterday.
LockMargin will exist as long as I freelance — which means it's not going anywhere.
